Its whiteness
The highest print quality in the industry
Its high sustainability compared with alternative materials such as virgin paper, plastics and electronics
Paper, thanks to its biodegradable characteristics, will always be a more environmentally friendly material than plastic and electronics.
FSC: sustainable and responsible forest management.

Between 40% and 50% of global plastic production is used for single-use products. In the EU, the recycling rate for paper and cardboard exceeds 80%, while less than 10% of the world’s plastic is recycled. Much of the remainder ends up in landfills or dispersed in the environment. An estimated 19 to 23 million tonnes of plastic leak into aquatic ecosystems every year.
Together, we generate between 50 and 60 million tonnes of electronic waste every year. However, only 20% of this waste is recycled, while the vast majority ends up in landfills or incinerators.
Although much of this waste contains highly polluting and hazardous substances such as cadmium, mercury and lead, the development of new technologies continues to increase the generation of this type of waste.

The water required to reuse fibres is much lower than that needed to transform wood. Producing recycled paper results in an 86% saving in water consumption. Likewise, the energy required to recycle paper is 60% lower than that needed to obtain virgin fibres.

Failure to recycle used paper leads to an organic decomposition process that generates methane (CH₄), a greenhouse gas four times more powerful than CO₂.
The water used by Vilaseca comes from the Carme-Capellades aquifer, one of the most important in Catalonia, with a capacity of 25 hm³ and a surface area of 160 km², approximately three times the size of the city of Barcelona.
Vilaseca has its own wastewater treatment plant and a connection to the municipal treatment plant, thanks to which 90% of the water becomes suitable for use again and supplies the Barcelona area.
Plant fibres have no colouring agents. Thanks to our state-of-the-art recycling plant, we can produce recycled paper in every shade of white.
